Habitat
Tapirs have simple yet effective bodies, which allows them to have lots of speed and agility, which makes them perfect contenders for living in a forest. Excluding the mountain tapir, a tapir's typical habitat would be a lowland rainforest and other moist forest floors, where they can roam the forest at night, as they are nocturnal. Mountain tapirs, on the other hand, prefer clouded forests, which are fogged all year round.
Tapirs have adapted to their environment in aspects to their ways of hunting their food, as they have grown a series of shearing blades on their teeth (lophs), which allows them to eat through leaves, twigs, fruit and vines.
Even though tapirs have a stocky-built physique and are fairly large mammals, they are quite shy, so are inapt for human contact, and so should be left alone.
Tapirs try to ignore human conflict, by only coming out in the early hours of the morning, and the late night, which makes them crepuscular or nocturnal.
Tapirs are herbivores, which means they don't consume any kind of meat, except for seafood. Their style of diet has worked to their convieniance, as their environment, the forest, is a natual buffet, providing them with all kinds of vegetarian delicacies.
